Details:

The inspiring design of this stunning, eco-friendly, emission-free dream home, emerged from a successful owner-architect collaboration.

On a 10530 sq ft (3209 sqm) city lot with mountain and lake views on Shuswap Lake, this home (only 5 years old) combines in an extraordinary way exquisite design with great comfort and functionality.
Very low maintenance cost!!! Only $155/month total utility cost.

With a vaulted ceiling, large circular windows on the east and west walls and high clerestory windows down its length, the living/dining room is suffused with light and air. When walking into this room, the feeling is one of taking a deep breath and letting it out slowly, as though to shake off stressful daily life and relax.
An endless ozonated pool inside on the lower level, allows for further relaxation and exercise.
Molly Bell, the owner, wanted the interior to be something spacious but not boxy - she wanted some feminine curves. The unique curved central roof is echoed through the interior with archways and round pillars. The "breezeway" of the house is then flanked with wings, one side being the kitchen and office and the other housing a laundry room, bathroom, walk-through closet and master bedroom, from which you can step out on to the spacious covered deck. "This is a design where the form completely followed function," says the architect Bernd Hermanski.

The emissions free geothermal system is connected to the clean infloor hydronic heating. A commitment was made to use local products as much as possible. Fir wood from local trees was used for the flooring, the kitchen cabinets, all the windows and doors and the trim throughout. Although a creative challenge for the local trades people, superb craftsmanship was the end outcome.

The walled garden is all organic and has a drip irrigation system. Xeriscaped garden areas, many fruit trees and shrubs, medicinal herbs and perennials grow among numerous raised beds. The beautiful garden contributes to the serenity of this truly amazing place.
